SitGo - Foldable Electric Bike

The team behind SitGo tries to build smart short distance travel equipment that feels world class and improves the user's quality of life. They felt that electric bikes had poor quality rides, were too heavy and awkward, and didn't fold down to small sizes. SitGo is currently running a Kickstarter campaign for what they hope will be the world's first folding electric bike that can be charged from a car's accessory port.

SitGo can drive at a top speed of 25 kilometers per hour with a range of around 35 kilometers. The 18 inch front wheel and 8 inch rear wheels can climb up to 15 degree inclines and can carry up to 120 kilograms. Unfolded the bike is 102 centimeters high by 98 centimeters long, and folded it shrinks to 75 centimeters tall by 64 centimeters wide by 24 centimeters thick. The bike weighs 18 kilograms.

There are several features added to the bike that go beyond transportation. A USB charging hub and phone holder give charging and mobile capabilities. Headlights and a ruby LED tail light are included. Controls in the handlebars allow the user to brake, sound a horn, control speed, monitor battery life, and turn on the lights and power. The body is built from aluminum, steel, and stainless steel.

SitGo looks polished, shiny and well designed. This is the fifth prototype generation and durability testing has been done on the frame, brakes, tires, and batteries. Folding electric bikes aren't necessarily commonplace today but a quick search shows several models available for sale through specialty and big box stores. SitGo's luxury angle and compact footprint should help to distinguish it from competition. The campaign ends early on Friday, November 6.
