Announcing the Best Bentley Projects of the Year

The annual Be Inspired Awards put on by Bentley Systems set the stage for some of the year’s biggest engineering projects.

The Awards were hosted at the Year in Infrastructure conference, which was held from November 3 to 5, 2015, in London, UK.

More than 360 nominations were made and 54 finalists were chosen to compete in 18 categories. These finalists presented their projects to peers and independent jury panels at the Awards and the winners have been chosen.

Here are the most innovative infrastructure projects of 2015.

Innovation in Asset Performance Management

The Predictive and Operational Analytics Tools for the Adelaide Metro Water Distribution Network

This project aims to improve water security in the Adelaide, Australia region with the introduction of new piping and pump stations.


Innovation in Bridges

The Ceira River Bridge

(Coimbra, Coimbra District, Portugal)

This project spans 250 m and rises 140 m over the Ceira riverbed to connect Lisbon and Coimbra, Portugal.

This 42-story project has a complex curved profile which requires unique cladding, structural floors and perimeter structural columns.

This project comprised coordination of loading and unloading transport vehicles, permission of the load on highways, coordination with utilities and the redesign of roads and bridges incapable of carrying the load.

E4 Stockholm Bypass FSK02 Rock Tunnels Design Contract

This project will construct one of the longest road tunnels in the world beneath the waterways of Stockholm, Sweden.

This project will construct a mine, concentrator, refinery, port, accommodation village and infrastructure using pre-made modules.

Block Island Wind Farm

This project adapted a deep-water support structure used in the oil industry for five 6MW wind turbine generators.
