CETOL 6σ Gets SOLIDWORKS Certified Gold Product Status

Assembly-level tolerance analysis with CETOL 6σ.

Sigmetrix has announced that its CETOL 6σ tolerance analysis technology has been awarded Certified Gold Product status by Dassault Systèmes SOLIDWORKS.

While CETOL 6σ may not yet be a widely-recognized product, the software gives users the ability to visualize how tolerance changes will affect their assemblies, with direct integration to SOLIDWORKS. CETOL 6σ’s tolerance analysis can be fully associated to all components in an assembly to holistically examine how changes in tolerances will affect a product design.

CETOL 6σ accomplishes this feat by leveraging a package of tools including geometric, mathematic and kinematic modelling with automated variation analysis and GD&T simulation to analyze the performance of an assembly throughout its specified tolerance range.

Why are these tools important?

Well, as designers begin to iterate through manufacturing and design strategies, a thorough understanding of how individual components will interact in a complex assembly is absolutely necessary for production success.

What’s more, because CETOL 6σ works in real time and stores tolerance data within a model, engineers can discard the antiquated and laborious exercise of creating complex spreadsheets to evaluate virtual conditions on numerous tolerancing scenarios and how they’ll affect the function of a product.  Tolerance changes are automatically updated in the CAD models.

Earning gold status is by no means a walk in the park. For vendors to be tightly interwoven into the SOLIDWORKS fabric, they have to demonstrate to the certification team and its engineers that their technology makes a worthwhile contribution to the SOLIDWORKS software by undergoing a rigorous design review and certification testing. Beyond that, gold-certified partners must present a minimum of five customer references and show that they’ll be committed to their product by maintaining it and developing it for the future.

“This gold certification recognizes the highest level of integration of CETOL 6σ for SOLIDWORKS… The tight integration accelerates the entire design to manufacturing cycle, allowing for increased productivity, a more robust product that hits the market sooner and reduced costs,” said Chris Wilkes, Sigmetrix CEO.
