TraceParts Grows by 20 Percent

The TraceParts Interface

TracePartsOnline, an online platform providing free access to supplier CAD models and technical specs for engineers and designers, has announced that its community has grown by 20 percent and now includes 2.4 million active users.

For those unfamiliar with TracePartsOnline, the site is essentially a repository where part vendors can provide electronic versions of part catalogs complete with CAD models of their products so that engineers and designers can quickly find and integrate third-party parts into their designs.

According to TraceParts, a key aspect of its 2015 growth has been the roll out of a number of critical site features over the last year. In particular, TraceParts believes that its online quotation tool has created a huge demand for the site’s growing CAD library. Now, users can request quotes from vendors while simultaneously downloading a model. With this new technology, CAD workflows are becoming more streamlined, making it easier to meet shortening product design cycles.

TraceParts’ engineers have also seen an increase in site interest and use thanks to its quicker, more powerful search engine. With TraceParts’ new engine, users can perform multicriteria searches, which can include part descriptions, manufacturers and even applicable standards, making it easier to locate the right component quickly.

Lastly, the site’s improved product viewer features finer in-browser renderings of parts and greater interactivity with a component’s 3D model and is available for all 3D parts in the TracePartsOnline library.

Due to its enhanced technology, TraceParts achieved over 60 million CAD file downloads, 4.5 million unique visitors and nearly 65 million page views in 2015.
