Judging from these numbers, the past year and the fourth quarter in particular were very strong for the French PLM software vendor, showing double-digit growth rates across the board.

The strongest force behind this growth is the increased adoption of the company’s 3DEXPERIENCE platform by both new and existing customers.

A few highlights from the report are below:

During the fourth quarter, the company’s total revenue was 796.5 million euros. This is an increase of 11 percent compared to the corresponding period for the previous year.

• Software revenue was 703.3 million euros, an increase of 11 percent, with the PLM backbone ENOVIA growing its revenues by 14 percent. This was followed by mid-range CAD solution SolidWorks at 11 percent and high-end CAD solution CATIA at 8 percent.
• Service revenue was 93.2 million euros, an increase of 8 percent in constant currencies.
• Looking at the different geographical regions, Asia was the strongest performer with a growth rate of 15 percent. This is followed by the Americas at 12 percent and EMEA as the straggler with 7 percent.

Total revenue for 2015 was 2,839.5 million euros, an increase of 13  percent.  Out of this total, the software revenue was 2,502.8 million euro, increasing by 13 percent, and the service revenue was 336.7 million euro and increasing by 20 percent. 

It should also be noted that this year-over-year comparison reflects the acquisitions of Accelrys (now called BIOVIA) since April 2014 and Quintiq since September 2014

Commenting on the results, Bernard Charles, CEO of Dassault Systèmes said,  “We were pleased to see strong growth in 3DEXPERIENCE adoption, which was quite visible in the acceleration of 3DEXPERIENCE sales during the fourth quarter, contributing to a strong finish to the year and attainment of all our objectives.”

Note that these numbers follow International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and that the reported growth rates are in “constant currencies,” which try to eliminate the effects of currency fluctuations.

Elomatic Makes Significant 3DEXPERIENCE Investment

In related news Elomatic, a leading European consulting and engineering company, announced earlier this week that it will make a significant investment in Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

The deal includes both the high-end CAD system CATIA V6, and the PLM backbone ENOVIA V6.

“The use of modern tools such as CATIA V6 enables us to boost the efficiency of our customers’ engineering and product development environments in the machinery and equipment manufacturing industry,” said Timo Martikainen, Elomatic’s senior vice president of mechanical.

Dassault Systèmes’ partner TechniaTranscat is responsible for the sales and implementation of the 3DEXPERIENCE solutions at Elomatic.

SolidWorks World and the Product Innovation Platform

SolidWorks World, one of the largest events for CAD and product development software, ended this past Wednesday. The event generally attracts thousands of SolidWorks users as well as hundreds of journalists, including ENGINEERING.COM’s Verdi Ogewell.

According to Ogewell, perhaps the most interesting thing about this year’s event is how the SolidWorks executives, Bassi included, tended to steer clear of any mention of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, which for many years has been seen as the only way forward for the development of SolidWorks.

Instead, the recently minted idea of a “Product Innovation Platform” was this year’s preferred nomenclature.

One possible explanation for this change may be related to the fact that SolidWorks Industrial Design, a solution based on the Dassault Systemès CATIA core and offered to SolidWorks users through the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, has yet to make a significant impact on sales.
