Optimization Software Links Simulation-Driven Design to PLM

ESTECO has just released its Enterprise Suite, which merges the abilities of its optimization software, modeFRONTIER, and its collaborative design process management software, SOMO 1.6.

Software like modeFRONTIER allows users to connect and automates multiple computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools into one single multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO).

Similarly, MDO software like SOMO allows users from multiple domains to collaborate in a single optimization workflow.

In this release, ESTECO isn’t just offering these two software options under one roof. It is also giving users the ability to link their numerical optimizations and process automations within a high-level product lifecycle management (PLM) framework.

This integration into PLM systems is made possible with SOMO’s new plug-ins. SOMO will now be able to link modeFRONTIER’s automation of third-party simulation software and the resultant data onto organization’s product information system.

The SOMO plug-ins use PROSTEP AG OpenPDM software to connect to external PLM, product data management (PDM) and file storage systems like Siemens Teamcenter and PTC Windchill.

This new SOMO feature isn’t just limited to transferring optimization projects between PLM repositories, ESTECO software and CAE software. It can also work in the other direction. MDO users will be able to connect their SOMO/modeFRONTIER workflows with imported models and projects currently stored on a PLM database.

This connection to projects and models already on the PLM database is made using procedures reminiscent of the method of linking other tools to SOMO and modeFRONTIER. These procedures are governed by a template-driven workflow to give users an easy means to integrate software, access PLM data and tailor their optimizations to their needs
