Integrating Savant and Emit into the ANSYS Workflow for Added Electromagnetic Precision

The two products will work in conjunction with ANSYS HFSS, a software for high-frequency electromagnetic field simulation. Connections between the various software solutions will be made using the HFSS-Savant and HFSS-EMIT Datalinks.
With HFSS integration, Savant gives engineers the ability to assess antenna performance on electrically large platforms. By importing free-standing antenna designs simulated in HFSS, Savant users can assess antenna performance and interactions. Engineers will also be able to simulate the antenna performance in complex environments such as on cars, airplanes and ships.

"Since acquiring these products from Delcross Technologies a few months ago, we've worked quickly to integrate them into the ANSYS environment," said Matthew Commens, HFSS lead product manager at ANSYS. "Our customers will greatly benefit from the seamless integration of Savant and EMIT with HFSS and we believe that they will be an important piece of our simulation platform moving forward."
Solver and Workflow Improvements in Savant and EMIT

The 5.0 release of Savant will see the integration of parametric simulations and Python scripting. This will allow engineers to automate optimizations, assessments and pre- and post-processing. Some optimizations and assessments that can be performed using parametric studies and Python automation include:
- Antenna positions
- CAD model rotation and translations
- Analysis convergence
- Dynamic scenario simulations
Another Savant improvement in the 5.0 release includes conformal phased arrays and built-in antenna models. This will allow engineers to model a more realistic simulation where a platform is conformed to a curvature. The built-in library of antennas also includes more canonical antennas, current sources and far-field models.
Improvements to EMIT 5.0 include a new RFI metric to assess the effects of interference on receivers. EMIT will now assess receiver sensitivity and defense on top of the traditional electromagnetic interference (EMI) margin.
EMIT also has a significant performance improvement thanks to GPU acceleration. This will reduce the necessary time to simulate large models.
