PTC, developer of the ThingWorx Internet of Things (IoT) platform, recently announced a partnership with EPAM Systems to use the ThingWorx platform to develop IoT solutions for several vertical markets including financial services, healthcare and retail.

Bringing IoT Solutions to Vertical Markets

The specific needs of different vertical industries require tailored IoT solutions. Furthermore, businesses need their solutions to be both easily adaptable and cost effective. The integration of PTC’s ThingWorx with EPAM’s IoT service capabilities aims to meet these needs.

EPAM’s IoT service capabilities include:

  • Industrial design
  • Low-level programming of connected devices
  • Infrastructure
  • Middleware
  • Integration capabilities

The partnership will allow EPAM to develop IoT solutions for end users, focusing on product development, data and analytics.

Every Business an IoT Business

PTC is excited by the partnership and the potential it holds for the future of IoT solutions. Rob Gremley, president of the technology platform group at PTC, believes EPAM is a good fit for the company.

“Innovative service and engineering companies like EPAM understand that every business could be an IoT business and, as such, are using ThingWorx technology to create new growth opportunities that pave the way for the next generation of industrial products,” Gremley said.

EPAM also sees the advantages of using ThingWorx to develop their IoT solutions. The recently released Version 7 of ThingWorx offers simpler development and easier cloud integration, and Eli Feldman, CTO of advanced technology at EPAM, is eager to use the platform.

“Partnering with PTC and leveraging ThingWorx allows us to better enable our clients to improve their time to value on IoT investments,” Feldman said.
