MapleSoft has just released a MapleSim Pneumatics Library to be used for system-level modeling and simulations.

The industry-tested library should help engineers that are designing, simulating, sizing and creating the control logic for pneumatic systems. The aim of the release is to speed up the development and analysis time of the simulations, allowing earlier time-to-marker for products.

Engineers will also be able to integrate these pneumatic designs into larger construction, machine and vehicle systems.

The new library gives engineers access to over 100 components including:

  • Cylinders
  • Lines
  • Lumped Volumes
  • Motors
  • Nozzles
  • Sensors
  • Valves

All of these components can be customized and expanded to suit the specific needs of the engineer. As the components are MapleSim-compatible, engineers can even access the system equations of the components. This access provides the chance to make royalty-free simulation code that is optimized to design specifications.

The MapleSim Pneumatics Library is created by Modelon, a provider of system-level simulation libraries that are based on the Modelica open standard. These libraries are also open. As a result, they can be extended and modified as needed.

Some other Modelon libraries compatible with MapleSim specialize in:

"The MapleSim Pneumatics Library is a good example of why MapleSoft supports the Modelica standard," said Laurent Bernardin, executive vice president at MapleSoft. "By making Modelica foundational to MapleSim, our customers can benefit from the work done by Modelon to create high fidelity models of pneumatics systems.”

“Companies that adopt the Modelica open standard enable their customers to efficiently combine products and expertise from a variety of sources, so they can leverage the best tools for their needs and achieve their own goals more easily,” Bernardin added.
