Gleason Corporation has introduced the 200GX and 260GX threaded wheel grinding machines, its latest addition to the Genesis series. The twin spindle concept is designed to combine maximum productivity with minimum idle and set up times.  Software-guided setup of the machine allows users to set up the GX Series from one workpiece to another in 20 minutes using a single tool.

"First Part Cycle" features a fully automatic workflow from setup to grinding the first workpiece. In addition, the machine is equipped a number of notable features, including:

  • Twist-controlled grinding
  • Automated process data proposal
  • Variable rate method (VRM) for a favorable surface structure
  • Polish grinding

The ability to directly interface with Gleason GMS Analytical Gear Inspection machines via scanning of QR codes further enhances the productivity of the GX Series.

The accessibility of the machine components is intended to make maintenance simple and efficient. Standard dimension grinding wheels allow operators to use existing tools along with dressing tools from Gleason.

The 200GX and 260GX are supported by the Gleason Global Service network with strategically located spare parts centers and over 250 service professionals in all major markets worldwide.

Jet Edge Waterjet Shuttle Systems

Jet Edge recently introduced its latest generation of waterjet shuttle systems designed especially for high-volume water-only waterjet cutting applications. These shuttle systems can increase productivity by allowing operators to continue cutting as they unload finished parts.

Manufactured for industrial use, Jet Edge waterjet shuttles are available in a high rail gantry format supporting up to 12 cutting heads or a mid rail gantry format supporting up to four cutting heads.  To operate the shuttle, the operator rolls out the top cutting table like a drawer and continues cutting on the bottom table as parts are unloaded. Powered shuttles are also available.

Jet Edge Waterjet Shuttle Systems are available in a wide range of sizes and an optional spreader bar allows operators to expand the cutting area beyond the waterjet gantry for cutting large sheets.  The shuttle systems feature Jet Edge’s Aquavision Di controller. It guides the user through the process from job set-up to production. Single parts, mirroring, rotation, plate alignment and part arrays (optional) are at the operator’s fingertips. It is also fully networkable.

Samco Roll Forming Line

Samco Machinery has introduced the Hands-Free Multi-Product Roll Forming Line, a line engineered for the specific needs of customers producing multiple profiles.

“For customers looking for a specific solution, we’re an engineering company manufacturing roll forming and material handling equipment,” says Bob Repovs, CEO at Samco Machinery in Toronto. “Customers aren’t looking for a cookie cutter roll former; they’re looking for innovative and efficient machines that roll form better products for their specific market. They demand a roll former that allows them to manufacture higher quality products more efficiently and at higher rates of speed."

Samco Machinery’s latest roll forming line is designed to produce products for “Just-in-Time” production. This machine has the ability to perform at variable speeds up to 60 feet per minute, depending on the punching pattern and part lengths. The entire process is automated from the moment coil leaves the uncoiler until finished product exits the cut-off.

Other features include:

  • 10K double ended uncoiler with hydraulic mandrel expansion
  • Universal Bottom Driven Roll Former with side-by-side tooling for “Just-in-Time” production
  • Auto Pre-Punch/Notch Press Selection System with guiding system and AMS controller as required by “Just-in-Time” production
  • Closed Loop Length Control Systems to maintain sufficient coil stock in the line
  • Stop-and-Go Cut-Off Hydraulic Press mounted on the roll former base includes three sets of cut-off dies with auto-die change system
  • Sweep unit with adjustable sweep with roller straightener dedicated for specific profile(s)
  • Two feet of prevailing scrap on both leading and trailing ends of coil

Techno CNC Router

Techno CNC Systems is now offering its new HDS-F CNC Router designed with an extra high gantry clearance for fabrication shops requiring a large Z work envelope to accommodate long tooling or clear tall parts.

The HDS-F CNC Router, like all HDS models, features an all-steel tubular frame and gantry supported with uprights made of cast iron to house the drive assemblies. The HDS-F machine comes standard with a 12 HP HSD high-frequency automatic tool changer spindle, maintenance free brushless Delta AC servo motors and drives, automatic tool calibration, 8-position tool rack, 4-Zone vacuum T-slot table and a Becker vacuum pump.

The router is powered by an Osai industrial AC servo controller with operational features that include Techno’s easy to use CNC Interface and a hand-held pendant to fine tune and control the selected axis.

The added element to the HDS-F CNC Router is the 23.5" raised gantry and an air blast system that keeps materials such as foam away from the helical rack and pinion, preventing them from entering the drive system.

Techno has extended and developed their line of CNC routers to include the HDS-F machine in response to the growing market demand for taller gantry clearance machining. “We decided to offer a raised gantry CNC router because our customers have been asking for it. From that point, our engineers went to work to design and build a machine stable enough to handle the higher loads due to the increased moment of inertia due to the high gantry structure. Using advanced CAD/CAM programs to calculate frame stress (also known as Finite Element Analysis), Techno engineers were able to construct the HDS-F frame and servo drive system,” said Techno’s President, Roy Valentine.

Techno CNC’s HDS-F raised gantry CNC router is designed for production shops requiring high-speed cutting for fabricated foam products such as 3D foam models, props, sculptures, monuments, architectural shapes and P.O.P. displays. The HDS-F machine works with all popular CAD/CAM software packages.

United Grinding Wheel Changer

United Grinding has introduced a new compact wheel changer for use on its Walter Helitronic Mini Power grinding machines and Helitronic Diamond Evolution two-in-one eroding and grinding systems. The automated changer is designed to provide more set up and part processing flexibility and to boost overall output through continuous uninterrupted machine operation.

Because of its size, the new wheel changer does not increase a machine’s footprint, so shops can add the automation while conserving factory floor space.

The wheel changer accommodates up to six grinding wheel sets or electrodes with maximum diameters of 150 mm. It also features a newly developed belt-driven spindle that increases the grinding/eroding length by up to 40 mm over the maximum length of a conventional MINI POWER with its two spindle ends.
