As a leading developer of real-time location solutions for industrial applications and commercial construction project sites, Redpoint Positioning has been actively improving the efficiency and safety of jobsite workers through real-time visibility and analytics of people and project assets since the company was founded in 2011.
At the first annual Forge DevCon in San Francisco this past week, the Massachusetts-based company announced that it will be joining Autodesk’s Forge platform to bring its real-time indoor GPS solutions to building information modeling (BIM) applications. The intention is that this will enable project managers to create and manage context-aware documents while improving construction job site efficiency and safety.

The Forge platform, which launched at the end of 2015, consists of a set of cloud services, APIs and software development kits (SDK)with the goal of helping developers create the data, apps, experiences and services that power the future of making things.
As one of the earliest adopters of Forge, Redpoint Positioning leveraged the platform’s APIs to monitor and record construction jobsite activities in real time directly within BIM 360. This real-time data was used to improve industrial worker efficiency and safety with 8-inch location accuracy through the use of the company’s SafetyNet battery-powered worker safety badges and wireless asset tags for equipment and tools.

“Redpoint is excited to work closely with Autodesk toward the goal of location-enabling Autodesk BIM solutions,” said Antti Korhonen, president and CEO of Redpoint Positioning. “This first joint integration effort demonstrates how Autodesk users can now monitor and record live construction job site activities inside BIM through Autodesk’s Forge platform.”

While Redpoint currently has active pilot projects with leading general contractors nationwide, the commercial version of its technology will be available in fall 2016.
