Assystem, Dassault Systèmes Partner for Nuclear Engineering

With an average lifespan of approximately 50 years, owners and operators of nuclear power plants face tight deadlines to ensure that design, construction, operational and maintenance challenges are resolved in a timely manner. Needless to say, streamlining communication and making complex data accessible are of the utmost importance to get the most out of the short lifecycle.

To improve the management and industrial performance of its projects in the nuclear engineering sector, industrial engineering consultants Assystem announced that it is collaborating with Dassault Systèmes and will be building a new information system for its projects using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. The new information system will be used to support engineering data management, configuration management, procurement, program management and resourcing capabilities for the company's engineering missions on nuclear facilities.

Previously, the companies collaborated in April 2015 for the development and delivery of personalized aircraft cabins with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and Assystem's system integration and engineering services. Dassault Systèmes will use this new collaboration to gain a better understanding of the nuclear engineering sector to identify specific challenges and needs within the industry. Insights gained during the collaboration will be used towards developing additional industry solutions on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

(Russian nuclear power plant design and construction company NIAEP also implemented the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.)

NIAEP is a Russian-based nuclear power plant design and construction company that relies heavily on the use of 3D-based physical modeling software for these complex engineering projects.

“As the demand for energy increases, so does pressure to optimize the use of global resources, and this can only be achieved through greater scientific and engineering innovation,” said Thomas Grand, vice president of Energy, Process and Utilities Industry at Dassault Systèmes. “Together with Assystem and its engineering expertise, the 3DEXPERIENCE platform can support the full development of equipment and plants by enabling the virtual integration of their entire lifecycle requirements from the outset, improving safety, efficiency, profitability and sustainability.”
