Baumer Industrial Cameras

LX series VisualApplets cameras with integrated image preprocessing are a self-contained camera, lighting, and processing system designed for quality inspections and error-proofing in pharmaceutical and assembly applications.

The manufacturer, Baumer Ltd., states that these cameras allow even non-expert users without profound FPGA knowledge to implement image processing solutions quickly and flexibly directly in the camera’s FPGA using the graphical programming environment VisualApplets by Silicon Software with no need for expensive and complex VHDL programming.

At the same time, the volume of transmission data is reduced so the PC-based image processing system is not required to perform complex algorithms requiring considerable processor power. This will increase throughput, simplify system design and reduce overall system cost, according to the company.

The new LX VisualApplets cameras integrate global shutter CMOS sensors by CMOSIS and a GigE Vision compliant interface, are available with 4, 12 and 20 megapixel resolutions and allow image acquisition and processing with VisualApplets with up to 74 fps.

Laser Design Scanning Inspection System

Laser Design, Inc., a fully-owned subsidiary of CyberOptics, and provider of 3D scanning systems and services, has announced it will showcase its CyberGage360, a metrology-grade, ultra fast, one-button automated 3D scanning and inspection system at IMTS 2016.

According to the company, CyberGage360 facilitates quality assurance by allowing anyone to be an inspector of in-process and incoming/outgoing parts on the manufacturing floor, lowering customers’ cost of quality and speeding products to market. With little training, anyone can check parts for any deviation from CAD or check critical features.

Designed for use in general purpose metrology, the CyberGage360 has a range of potential applications for consumer electronics, medical, automotive, aerospace and other verticals where high accuracy and high speed throughput are vital.

A highly-precise 360-degree scan of complex parts can be generated in less than three minutes. Incorporating CyberOptics’ proprietary 3D Multi-Reflection Suppression (MRS) technology, the automated CyberGage360 is designed to bring greater accuracy and scanning speeds to the industrial parts inspection and reverse engineering markets.

In addition to a series of products, the company also offers 3D Services which include 3D laser scanning services for reverse engineering, quality inspection and to capture internal and external geometry.

Mahr Federal Digital Calipers and Indicators

Mahr Federal wireless data transmission capability is now integrated within the Mahr families of MarCal digital calipers and MarCator digital indicators using proven wireless technology. Both MarCal digital calipers and MarCator digital indicators send data to a small i-stick receiver, resembling a common USB flash drive.

MarCom software is designed to make data acquisition simple: take a measurement and transmit measuring data directly into MS Excel or via a keyboard code into any Windows program without the need for external transmitters or cables. It's also possible to apply the wireless data collection capabilities to existing SPC applications.

Low power transmitters in MarCal digital calipers and MarCator digital indicators are intended to eliminate expensive power hungry add-on transmitters that can make gages bulky and interfere with portability. Each MarConnect i-stick wireless receiver supports up to eight measuring instruments with a range of up to 12 meters, perfect for most bench-top or workstation applications.

Mahr Federal's broad line of mechanical comparative gages can now be upgraded for wireless data transmission with the addition of a MarCator 1086 or 1087 wireless digital indicator. The line includes a wide array of snap gages, ID & OD gages, fixed and adjustable bore gages, as well as depth and comparator stands.

With MarConnect integrated wireless transmitters, MarCator 1086 and 1087 digital indicators can potentially help speed part inspection times, reduce the complexity of data collection, and improve the quality control process. Since i-stick receivers are so inexpensive, it's now possible to add a receiver to every workstation in the shop.

MarCal 16 EWRi digital calipers are easy to read with a large clear digital display and include a number of advanced features, such as lapped guideways, a reference system that retains the zero position setting, and a number of product options and accessories. MarCal 16 EWRi digital calipers are protected against dust and immersion to class IP67.

The MarConnect integrated wireless interface is active as soon as the i-stick is plugged in, and each caliper/indicator is identified by signal coding in the MarCom software so there is no confusion as to signals. Wireless data transmitters are built into the digital calipers and indicators; no interface boxes or additional batteries are required.

Parlec Inspection Software

Parlec, Inc., a provider of tooling and measuring/inspection solutions, has announced the release of P7, a measuring and inspection software based on human behavior and web practices. The human-centered design of P7 is designed to make a complex application easy to use for operators with any level of experience.

P7 is designed to help manufacturers be more efficient with their measuring and inspection needs.  P7 has many features, such as Echo, which monitors the operator’s process once and then reproduces it automatically. AAIM is capable of comparing forms and measurements of a cutting tool to a .dxf drawing.

“The new P7 interface was designed with the user experience in mind,” said Matthew Ricotta, director of product marketing. “From the flat color scheme designed to be used for extended periods of time without straining the operator’s eyes, to the feedback indicators located throughout providing the operators constant feedback.”

The P7 Measuring and Inspection software is available on Series 1550, 1850, and Apex tool measuring and inspection machines. The software is designed to be modular and these modules are available to be added at any point.
