Satellites, Radar and the Electrical Engineer

When an explosion destroyed an unmanned SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, it also destroyed a satellite that Facebook was planning to use for its internet expansion efforts.

As visualized in this graphic, created by Ohio University’s Master of Electrical Engineering program, Google plans on investing over $1 billion in satellites for Internet access that will connect people around the world, while SpaceX wants to create a large network of thousands of low-Earth orbit satellites. 

With companies like Facebook, Google and SpaceX expanding internet connection and planning to launch many satellites in the near future, satellite innovation is vital, and this graphic shows the potential of satellite design and their ability to connect internet users around the world.
