Internet of Things (IoT) company Telit recently announced major updates to its cloud-based IoT portal. This announcement follows closely on the heels of Telit’s release of its Rapid IoT Development Kit, a kit which directly integrates the Telit IoT portal.

So what can users expect from this update? The company is confident that users of the portal will find themselves with greater control and resources to develop their IoT solutions.

Let’s take a look at some of the major additions:

  • deviceWISE Asset Gateway Store and Forward: Telit’s deviceWISE IoT platform is the powerhouse behind the IoT portal. Now, with the Store and Forward function, IoT data loss can be prevented. This gateway function works to maintain data continuity by storing all incoming data and automatically resending it when connections are broken and restored, meaning less anxiety about high-value enterprise data.
  • Network Switch: Users can make quick, on-the-fly switches of their network provider. Switch is accessible directly on the IoT portal.
  • Cloud Logic: Using a graphical programming canvas, users can design custom event logic to execute after application-defined events. Taking the form of “if this, then that” commands, event logic is quick and simple to develop. And with multi-action sequential triggers, users can develop complex, branching event logic.
  • Enhanced Search: An improved search function promises Telit users an easier way to find the information they need.
  • 64-Bit Versions for deviceWISE Asset and Enterprise Gateways: Telit is introducing a 64-bit version of the deviceWISE Asset and Enterprise Gateway in certain systems, such as Cisco Industrial Routers and those running on Linux operating systems.

Creating a Seamless User Experience

The IoT portal received an update earlier this year that saw dashboarding, remote device management and network steering capabilities in the portal. The latest suite of additions brings the portal even closer to Telit’s goal of seamlessly and easily connecting things to the cloud.

As we’ve previously pointed out, users need more out of an IoT platform than just a way to connect their devices. They also need to be able to collect and use their data effectively. For example, the portal dashboard was added to allow users to visualize their data in an easy and intuitive way. And now with features like graphical event logic programming, Telit is once again taking strides to make the user experience easy and accessible.
