MediaTek Labs and SAC Collaborate to Extend LinkIt Development Platform to Wearables
This new HDK makes use of the platform's common tool chain and set of APIs. It offers developers the ability to create a range of IoT devices using the MediaTek LinkIt SDK v4 as a common software development kit (SDK). With the HDK launch, the SDK has also been updated to include a new Bluetooth stack and support for the MT2523 chipset variants.
The LinkIt 2523 HDK is developed by SAC, one of MediaTek's resellers of chipsets and modules, using a hardware board reference design from MediaTek. The HDK provides an IoT development board for the design, prototyping, evaluation and implementation of commercial wearables projects.

Samsung Mass Produces Application Processor for Wearable Devices
The Exynos 7270 makes use of two Cortex-A53 cores, an integrated Cat.4 LTE 2CA modem and embedded WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. In addition, integrated connectivity capabilities support FM (frequency modulation) radio, and location-based services with GNSS (global navigation satellite system).
The technology combines the AP, DRAM and NAND flash memory chips as well as the PMIC (power management IC) together into a single package.
To expedite the development process, a reference platform comprised of the Exynos 7270, NFC (near field communication) and various sensors is currently available for device manufacturers and customers.

Xilinx Announces Production Milestone for 16nm UltraScale+ Portfolio
Xilinx, Inc. has announced it has reached a production milestone for its 16nm UltraScale+ portfolio ahead of schedule. Less than a year after first ship of all devices, open order entry for production devices is available this last quarter, 2016.
The Xilinx UltraScale+ portfolio is a FinFET-based programmable technology available at 14nm or 16nm. The portfolio includes Kintex, Virtex UltraScale+ FPGAs and Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoCs.

Autotalks to Launch CRATON2, 2nd Generation V2X Solution
Autotalks' V2X has a IEEE 802.11p modem with a communication range for the high-mobility vehicular environment. It can support dual-antennas with a flexible installation, and even support concurrent channel operation (WIFI and 11p).
CRATON2 integrates all V2X system blocks, and includes a dual ARM processor.

Intersil 14-Channel Programmable Gamma Buffer for Infotainment and ADAS Displays
The ISL76534 provides engineers with one Vcom and 14 gamma channels with 10-bit resolution for fine-tuning the gamma curve, correcting LCD panels that are not properly gamma corrected and appear bleached out or too dark. The ISL76534's internal EEPROM stores the factory-calibrated gamma and Vcom reference values.
The ISL76534 high 75 dB PSRR prevents power supply noise from reaching the gamma buffer outputs, and provides power consumption at 56.6mW, eliminating the need for heatsinks.
System designers can create a complete TFT-LCD power supply by combining the ISL76534 with the ISL78419 TFT-LCD PMIC, ISL78206 40V 2.5A synchronous buck controller and ISL78307 40V linear regulator. The ISL78171 6-channel, 50mA, LED backlight driver can be added to drive all infotainment and ADAS TFT-LCDs.
The 14-channel ISL76534 programmable gamma buffer is available now in a 4.5mm x 5mm, 28-lead TQFN package and is priced at $1.99 USD in 1k quantities.
