RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc, has announced it is extending its portfolio of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) devices with supply of the SIMATIC IOT2020 IoT gateway.

Siemens and RS joined forces to offer an IoT platform for engineers to get started with IIoT and meet the challenges of an increasingly connected world.

The IOT2020 is an IoT gateway that is designed for continuous industrial operation, used to retrieve, process, analyse and send data to almost any kind of device or network with interfaces including Ethernet, USB and micro SD. The gateway is compatible with open source software such as the Arduino IDE and Yocto Linux. In addition to the on-board interfaces the IOT2020 is expandable with Arduino shields and via an on-board PCIe port.

Exar Corporation recently released a family of RS-485/RS-422 transmitters for industrial applications such as multi-drop clock distribution, telecom networking, robotic control, process automation and local area network applications.

The XR33193, XR33194 and XR33195 operate from a 3.3V supply and draw 180µA (375µA maximum) of supply current. Transmitters feature a shutdown mode that consumes less than 2µA when the transmitters are disabled.  The family is available in 6-pin TSOT23 packages, for high-speed point-to-point RS-485 applications.

The XR33193/94/95 occupy a 3mm x 3mm footprint and feature 250kbps, 2.5Mbps and 20Mbps data rates. The XR33193 and XR33194 have slew-limited outputs for reduced EMI. The XR33195 features 25ns propagation delay and 5ns driver-output skew. All three RS-485 transmitters feature ±15kV ESD protection on the driver outputs and operate over a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.

Digital View Announces New Display Interface Electronics for Industrial Monitors

Digital View recently announced its ALR-1400v2 LCD controller for industrial and commercial LCD display systems. This monitor interface board provides ARGB (VGA) and DVI inputs with OSD or RS-232 serial selection control for LVDS panels up to 1440 x 900 resolution in a board design measuring 4.2 in x 3.6 in.

The ALR-1400v2 includes features for OEM manufacturers, such as auto EDID settings, custom EDID settings, a custom splash screen and firmware updates over DVI.

The ALR-1400v2 comes with multi-panel support and the availability of custom engineering services direct from Digital View.

New Memory Offering from Microchip Technology for Safe Data Storage at Power Loss

Microchip Technology Inc. has announced a new I2C EERAM memory, a standalone SRAM memory with shadow EEPROM back-up.

The EERAM offers random writes to the array with no write cycle delay. The I2C EERAM family is available in 4 Kb and 16 Kb densities and comes in 8-pin SOIC, TSSOP and PDIP packages. EERAM is available in 3.0V and 5.0V options and operates in industrial temperature ranges (-40°C to 85°C and -40°C to 125°C) and is also available in automotive grade.

EERAM does not require an external battery to store data during a power loss event. Instead, a small, external capacitor is needed to provide the energy needed to store the contents of the SRAM on to the EEPROM when system power is lost.

Microsemi Corporation recently announced the availability of its ZL40250-ZL40253 miSmartBuffer devices. The products reduce the complexity of designing clock trees for communications, enterprise switches and data center equipment.

Microsemi's ZL40250-ZL40253 miSmartBuffer family is capable of generating multiple frequencies using per output dividers, and the outputs of miSmartBuffers can be configured to generate native signal types such as LVDS, LVPECL, HCSL, HSTL and CMOS.

The devices' outputs are grouped in six output supply voltage banks with CMOS output voltages from 1.5 volts (V) to 3.3V. The three, six or 10-differential output programmable fanout buffers per output control are intended to provide designers with flexibility.

Microsemi's ZL40250-ZL40253 miSmartBufferTM devices are available now.
