Honeywell Brings New Offerings through Collaboration on IIoT Solutions

As manufacturing adopts the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and the connectivity it brings, more companies are teaming up to cover shortfalls and enhance infrastructure.

Honeywell is one such company, having recently announced that it’s expanding relationships with some its existing industrial collaborators, Flowserve Inc. and Sparks Dynamics.

IIoT brings with it the potential for improvements in efficiency, productivity and cost savings. From connecting machines to workers on the move by streamlining data live, a connected factory paves the way for Industry 4.0.

Collected data can even be disseminated to customers for quality assurance purposes.

“The key to an effective IIoT ecosystem is to have three things,” said Andrew Hird, VP and GM of Honeywell Process Solutions’ Digital Transformation business.

“First, you need to have secure access to the data being collected; secondly the capability to analyze that data; and finally, you need domain knowledge to understand how to deploy information to benefit the operation.”

Honeywell is capitalizing on the expertise of its collaborators to enhance their existing capabilities in data consolidation, cyber and software development. While Flowserve brings domain knowledge in flow control solutions that include pumps, valves, seals and services, Sparks Dynamics will provide compressed air management solutions, systems engineering, energy analysis and assistance with analytics development.

“An important part of this will be working with Honeywell to introduce a joint compressed air solution to the mid- to large-sized industrial plants.” said Mac Mottley, Spark Dynamics’ CEO.

There are several other companies announcing high-profile collaborations to enhance their connectivity and production, as technology makes it easier to see the benefits of capitalizing on a partner’s strengths, while identifying and shoring up your own organization's weaknesses.

Honeywell and it’s collaborators will leverage the IIoT to help customers minimize unplanned shutdowns, maximize output, minimize safety risk and optimize supply chain strategies.
