How Modularity Could Revolutionize the Intelligent Production Line

As manufacturing and production engineers seek for efficacy and productivity, the next-generation production line has made its debut.

HIT Robot Group’s (HRG) “Super Craft” intelligent production line is designed with a focus on modularity and “enhanced decentralized control,” rather than traditional centralized control, for greater configuration capabilities.

Efficient reconfiguration is accomplished simply, said HRG vice president, Zhu Lei.

“By uploading real-time data to the Internet, the production line can map its capability with dynamic product requests and therefore making fast adjustment to market changes and accordingly allocating idle resources.”

By adjusting and replacing different components, modules and units, the Super Craft production line’s customization can extend to process and workflow and be adapted to manufacture building materials, 3C products and precision devices, as a few examples.

The HRG Super Craft is currently producing jade products, an application in which precision is vital. The system has proven to be radically precise, the company said in a statement.

Prior to the Super Craft, jade production relied on manual craftsmanship and handwork due to the cherished heritage of the stone within Chinese culture. The precise and efficient HRG Production Line has managed to automate these processes seemingly without a drop in quality, thanks to the precision of the automation installed on the line.

Adding to the list of benefits, the Super Craft intelligent production line promises greater cost effectiveness. Often in the manufacturing business, faulty operations can lead to material waste and inferior product quality. HRG’s intelligent production line produces significantly less wasted materials, saving time, money and other resources, according to the company.

The Super Craft formally launched in early January of 2017 and is currently operating in the Chinese province of Yunnan.
