Free Simulation Training Is Coming to a Town Near You

COMSOL has announced a nomadic series of computer-aided engineering (CAE) training sessions that will hit a whopping 19 cities in seven countries. Better yet, it's all free, baby!

Needless to say, if you need to brush up on your multiphysics and simulation app creation, there just might be a pin on COMSOL's map one finite element away.

Dubbed COMSOL Days, these mini-conferences of sorts have a mission “to expand access to numerical simulation to engineers without previous experience using multiphysics software,” explained Jeff Hiller, vice president of Sales at COMSOL.

Democratization is a major focus of the COMSOL ethos. One of its claims to fame is the ability to make simulation apps that can simplify any feature of the software for use by almost any individual.

That does assume, of course, that the engineer designing the app can idiot-proof it so that nobody breaks anything. (I'm looking at you, Donny, from sales and marketing. How did he get that promotion?)

“We released the Application Builder tool for COMSOL Multiphysics for creating custom apps and COMSOL Server license for deployment and access through a web browser or a client,” said Hiller.

Hiller explained that these training apps are in line with COMSOL's recent push to bring simulation to the masses through training, guest speakers and contact with application specialists.

“The COMSOL Days are one-day events that focus on building local COMSOL communities, provide training, and introduce the latest news in the software,” agreed Bernt Nilsson, senior vice president of Marketing at COMSOL. “It is free of charge and targets major metro areas. In the U.S., we are planning to visit 10 cities throughout the year. Following the success from COMSOL Days in the U.S., we are expanding worldwide with over 10 international events planned so far.”

The COMSOL Days cities include:

  • Pune, India, on March 3
  • Paris, France, on March 7
  • Cambridge, Mass., on March 15
  • Grenoble, France, on March 17
  • Cambridge, UK, on March 30
