NanoMech, a manufacturing company from Arkansas, recently became the first nano-engineering firm to earn ISO 9001: 2015 certification. The internationally recognized certification signifies an exemplary level of regulatory oversight and customer service standards.

NanoMech founder and CTO Ajay Malshe said of the achievement, “this is the world’s first ISO approval for a true nanomanufacturing factory where multiple divisions co-exist with the converging theme of providing superior productivity to mechanical applications using nanoscale materials science and engineering…”

The company was founded by Malshe in 2002 and has continued to expand, exporting products based on its proprietary coating technology around the globe. These products and developments include nano-innovations in lubrication and energy, adaptive chemistries for advanced textile coatings, high-strength metal surface coatings and strategic military applications.

NanoMech’s products have been used in a wide range of applications, including Indy and NASCAR racing, the manufacture of agriculture and construction equipment and aerospace manufacturing.

ISO 9001 is one of a series of certifications enforcing high standards of practice. Most recently updated in 2015, the strict ISO 9001 requirements focus on a company’s ability to consistently provide products and services that meet statutory and regulatory requirements while also enhancing customer satisfaction through effective application of the system.

In addition to the ISO 9001 certification, NanoMech was labeled as a business to watch in 2011 and selected by the NanoBusiness Commercialization Association for the Most Influential Nanotechnology Leaders List. In September 2016, the company was awarded a US Army contract to develop next-generation combat uniforms.

Nanotechnology has become one of the most important fields of research in recent decades, improving biotechnology, consumer electronics and medicine. With this certification, NanoMech is now looking to the future and aiming to play an important role in the global nanotechnology revolution.
