As additive manufacturing (AM) becomes increasingly integrated into the workflows of some of the world’s largest companies, conferences are essential to the ability to share the most up-to-date information, whether that be through one-on-one networking or lectures from industry experts.
Somewhat different from the industry’s other key events is the Additive Manufacturing Users Group (AMUG) Conference, where actual users of AM technology are the ones in attendance. With important developments taking place in the past year, the 2017 AMUG Conference, held March 19 to 23 at the Hilton Chicago, may shed light on what these developments mean for the industry as a whole. Due to the user-focused nature of the event, the AMUG Conference will likely give attendees the guidance and context needed to make decisions regarding the direction of AM.
This year, AMUG will feature 200 presentations and up to 25 simultaneous sessions with keynote speakers that include Jason Lopes from Legacy Effects, Stacey DelVecchio from Caterpillar, Peter Liacouras from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and industry analyst Todd Grimm of T.A. Grimm & Associates. Also at the event, the inventor of selective laser sintering, Carl Deckard, will be a part of an on-stage interview as he receives this year’s Innovators Award. Other notable details include a number of big industry names, such as GE and HP.
