Improve Performance and Collaboration by Migrating ANSYS Simulations to the Cloud

ANSYS selects CycleCloud software for their efficient and inexpensive services.

Design engineers need to run simulations faster to analyze increasingly complex models within a reasonable time frame and to shorten product development cycles. Users can increase local computational performance and resources, but this is not a cost-effective solution in many cases and often wastes resources needed for peak demands that would otherwise sit idle. Engineers can benefit from a resource such cloud computing to dynamically allocate resources as needed.

Engineers who are part of global interdisciplinary teams need to share resources, data and results.  Cloud computing offers a cost-efficient way to share resources as well as improve performance. Users can migrate simulations to the computing cloud and then allocate additional computational resources as needed when they are required, and can avoid paying for idle time on unused resources. Cloud computing also facilitates collaboration among engineers, customers and other design centers, and simplifies data and resource sharing.

Cycle Computing, a global leader in cloud high performance computing (HPC) solutions, recently announced a partnership with ANSYS, the global leader in engineering simulation. The ANSYS Enterprise Cloud is an engineering simulation suite and user interface provided over the global Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform using Cycle Computing CycleCloud software.

Users can securely store and retrieve data worldwide as well as execute simulations interactively or use batch execution with CycleCloud. Interactive simulation provides instant feedback, and users can make changes and revisions immediately while the batch mode can run as suite of simulations without requiring user intervention.

In both interactive and batch modes, the CycleCloud solution scales on demand, drawing in other resources as needed to support the user, and provides organizations with an effective virtual private cloud (VPC).The CycleCloud system manages resources to provide the needed AWS resources while minimizing usage of those resources. Only the resources currently needed are allocated to the user to reduce costs and avoid wasting resources. This process optimizes the AWS Spot Instance usage, minimizing costs and resource utilization while optimizing performance.

Users execute ANSYS software applications on cloud computers via the AWS system. Executing the application software in the cloud and storing the data there reduces communication time and costs, since the model data is already located where it is needed and does not have to be uploaded or transferred from the user's local computer.

CycleCloud software and ANSYS Enterprise Cloud give engineers a new integrated cloud computing solution for high performance simulation and global collaboration. To find out more, visit the CycleComputing and ANSYS websites.
