Improve Agile Product Development with New Collaboration Tool

Engineers need to share processes, tools and data among interdisciplinary and globally located teams.  However, the exchange and processing of data with third-party systems, as well as among global sites, prompts concerns about protecting Intellectual property and proprietary information.

The VOLTA environment recently released by ESTECO protects sensitive information while promoting the exchange of data and results among global locations.

Multidisciplinary teams located at multiple sites can manage designs using VOLTA. The environment provides security that protects sensitive information while delivering the data transfer and support needed for team members to collaborate from multiple locations.

ESTECO evolved the VOLTA environment from the earlier Service Oriented Multidisciplinary Orchestration (SOMO) tool. Engineers will appreciate the enhancement of the environment to expand and improve model generation and analysis capability—improvements driven by feedback and suggestions from engineers using the SOMO tool.

Engineers can manage all cross-functional concurrent design steps with VOLTA to improve the sharing and reuse of company knowledge. Key capabilities of the tool include:

  • Simulation data management—Users can track, organize and manage the version of analysis models and results, simulation data and results, and automation workflows from a web browser.
  • Distributed execution—Users can exploit high performance computing (HPC) clusters, multi-core workstations and cloud computing services to overcome computational limitations while still protecting and securing sensitive data. The user sees these resources bundled together as if they were working on a single computer, and VOLTA seamlessly manages the allocation of resources with limited user involvement.
  • Optimization-driven design—Automated design space exploration helps teams balance multiple objectives to meet multiple requirements, shorten development cycles and achieve better design performance earlier in the development cycle. Team members share access to key design information online, reducing the need to exchange physical documents and facilitating incremental design enhancements.
  • Engineering data intelligence—Teams can concurrently compare, validate and agree upon design solutions from multiple global locations. VOLTA captures information and tailors it to the needs of each team member and stakeholder to provide the metrics and analysis decision-makers need in a form that is most understandable to them.
