PTC, the Internet of Things (IoT) company behind the ThingWorx IoT platform, and Deloitte, a digital consultancy, have announced a plan to collaborate on industry-focused IoT solutions. The partnership aims to accelerate the adoption of IoT in a number of industries, including manufacturing, power and utilities, and oil and gas.

The IoT solutions will initially be designed with a focus on rapid deployment of industrial IoT (IIoT) applications, such as connected factories, predictive maintenance, condition-based monitoring and digital supply network. PTC is no stranger to such applications, as ThingWorx already advertises itself as a platform for industrial connectivity.

“The industry-renowned ThingWorx platform from PTC enables our teams to rapidly connect machines, devices, and sensors to form insights and corresponding actions that can deliver value and ROI in weeks, not months or years,” said Robert Schmid, chief IoT technologist at Deloitte Digital.

In addition to the initial IIoT focus, PTC and Deloitte will also look to cocreate IoT solutions in the areas of healthcare, smart cities, life sciences, and retail and consumer products.

PTC has collaborated with many companies in its pursuit of accelerating IoT, including HPE, Sierra Monitor and hundreds more, within its ThingWorx Partner Ecosystem. The company believes that adding Deloitte to its list of partnerships will help further its IoT initiatives.

“With its scale and breadth of services, Deloitte is an important collaborator as we continue our focus on developing innovative IoT solutions and bringing them to market for our customers,” said PTC’s Catherine Kniker.
