This April has been a hot month for industrial automation. Following Automate 2017, FANUC has introduced its new R-30iB Plus robot controller, designed to simplify the use of robots and automation in manufacturing.

The R-30iB Plus controller features a new iPendant with enhanced screen resolution and processing capability. The user interface, iHMI, has an icon-based screen designed to make setup and programming more intuitive, with tutorials accessible from the main home page. The interface is similar in style to common FANUC CNCs.

A programming guide is included to help first-time robot users create programs for tasks like handling parts more quickly.

For users who prefer the previous interface, the iPendant can also revert to the previous version.

According to FANUC, processing performance of hardware and software has been improved in the R-30iB Plus and signal processing cycle has been shortened. The company also reports that signal output timing has improved, expanding possible applications to systems which require a higher level of positioning precision, like laser applications.

The vision function of R-30iB Plus has a new camera interface which can transmit images from the camera four times faster than the previous generation, with a simplified cable configuration. The new user interface is also designed to make setting up the vision system easier and more efficient.

The R-30iB Plus is being introduced at FANUC’s annual open house event, April 10-13, at the company’s headquarters in Japan.

The company will also be displaying new robotic, CNC and factory automation products. Those in attendance can view technical presentations to learn about the products from FANUC’s technical experts.
