Projections from the United Nations (UN) show that the world’s population will reach 9.7 billion by 2050. Although birth rates in developing countries are decreasing, they will still account for the majority of global population growth.
As many of these countries lack the infrastructure necessary to cope with rapid population growth, the demand for civil engineers with expertise in transportation, water, waste disposal and construction will likely see a concordant increase.
