Microsoft’s Internet of Things (IoT) partner program has a new member: MultiTech Systems, an IoT and industrial IoT (IIoT) communications equipment provider. MultiTech’s IIoT gateway–the MultiConnect Conduit–is now Microsoft Azure Certified for IoT.

One of the main benefits of being Azure Certified for IoT is that the MultiConnect Conduit is now listed on the Azure device catalog, a listing of all hardware tested and certified to be compatible with the Azure IoT platform. While the catalog is still just a preview, it functions as a perfectly serviceable resource for IoT developers to quickly find Azure-compatible devices. Each device page, like this page for the MultiConnect Conduit, provides tech specs, similar devices, and manufacturer resources.

“Microsoft Azure Certified for IoT validates our ability to jumpstart customers’ IoT projects with a pretested device and operating system combination,” said MulitTech CEO Stefan Lindvall.

The MultiConnect Conduit features a variety of connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LTE, 3G, and LoRaWAN. It also includes several interface options like I2C, Serial, and USB, and supports cloud protocols including MQTT and HTTPS. MultiTech also offers a starter kit which bundles the MultiConnect Conduit with everything needed to set up a LoRa-based IoT application.

“MultiTech’s IoT platforms are highly intelligent and programmable down to the very edge of the network,” said Lindvall. “Decreasing the usual customization and work required for compatibility ensures MultiTech helps customers get started quickly on their IoT solution.”

Through the Azure Certified for IoT device catalog, IoT developers and hardware manufacturers can confidently and easily verify the compatibility of services. “Microsoft Azure Certified for IoT extends our promise to bring IoT to business scale, starting with interoperable solutions from leading technology companies around the world,” stated Microsoft’s Barb Edson. “With trusted offerings and verified partners, Microsoft Azure Certified for IoT accelerates the deployment of IoT even further.”
