The number of individual entries in Dodge Data & Analytics’ Sweets database of building products has just surpassed the 100,000 threshold, while the launch of a related app now makes this information accessible during design workflows.
According to Mike Petrullo, CEO of Dodge Data & Analytics, the accumulation of more than 100,000 product entries follows more than 100 years of operation by Sweets, making the database the most comprehensive resource of its kind for the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industries.
“Sweets has been the construction industry’s mainstay building product resource for more than a century,” said Petrullo.
“Since the very beginning, we have aspired to create a comprehensive, efficiency-enhancing product database that provides industry-leading value to the design and build community.
“Surpassing the 100,000-product threshold, and having 96 percent of Architectural Record’s top 300 design firms registered, is proof that Sweets is fulfilling its promise.”
Sweets currently has a registered user base of more than 300,000, enabling it to provide the latest product metadata for key brands, including Allegion, Armstrong, CertainTeed, Nystrom and Sloan.
In addition to containing a wide range of product entries, the interactive database also provides detailed information for each product’s BIM content, CAD details, catalogs, installation guides, specifications and warranties.
In order to facilitate access for members of the AEC sector, the Sweets database can be accessed online via a standard web browser, or during the design process itself via the Sweets apps for Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
The Sweets apps enable AEC professionals to search and select product information while they’re working with either Revit or AutoCAD, and then incorporate that information directly into the designs they produce.
The Sweets app for Revit won the Best of Show award in the BIM software category at the 2016 AIA Conference, and has proved to be highly popular with leading AEC firms, including Jacobs, Gensler, HOK, Perkins+Will and Perkins Eastman.
