Moldex3D Adds Aluminium to Simulation Material Database

For as long as plastic injection molding has existed, the preferred material for mold cavities has been hardened steel. It is durable, strong and easier to rework if there are design changes. Due to its strength, steel also allows more complex molds to be created versus using an aluminium mold.

But aluminium is not without its benefits. Mold cavities made from aluminium can be quicker and cheaper to produce, and offer excellent thermal conductivity.

Given that more companies are opting for aluminium these days, it will be welcome news for them to hear that Taiwanese injection molding simulation software company CoreTech System Co., Ltd. has added aluminium to its Moldex3D database.

The Moldex3D material database now offers:

  • Alumold 500 ROLLED
  • Alumold 500 FORGED
  • Alumold 400
  • Alumold 350

CoreTech System has teamed with aluminium product provider Constellium, the manufacturer of the Alumold range of alloys that will be added to the database.

“We are pleased to introduce the addition of Alumold to Moldex3D’s material database,” said Tober Sun, Moldex3D division manager of product support. “Moldex3D is constantly updating our material library by partnering with leading material suppliers as part of our ongoing effort to deliver the most accurate simulation results to our users.”
