Is MapleSim Joining the Simulation App Game?

Maplesoft has just announced a new simulation democratization tool with the release of MapleSim Explorer.

This new tool helps engineers share MapleSim models throughout their organization to non-simulation experts. It appears that with this release, Maplesoft has entered the engineering apps for simulation game.

MapleSim is a system-level simulation software that can create digital twins of product designs. The point is to optimize a system before any physical prototype has been created.

With MapleSim Explorer, experts can share their models with members of their team that do not have simulation expertise. Users can change parameters, look at data and plots, model variables and check out both 2D and 3D animations. MapleSim Explorer is even capable of parameter sweeps, optimizations and Monte Carlo simulations.

“A lot of engineering knowledge gets embedded in digital twins and other virtual models, but it’s difficult to get that valuable information out to everyone who needs it, when only modeling experts can access the model,” said Chad Schmitke, senior director at Maplesoft. “With MapleSim Explorer, organizations can make their MapleSim models available to more people, so they can leverage the engineering knowledge contained in the model and get the answers that will help them make better decisions, quickly and efficiently.”

MapleSim Explorer is a standalone product that is being billed as a complementary tool to the MapleSim Server. The difference between the tools is that the server will give users the ability to access MapleSim models via a web browser that MapleSim Explorer will give users direct access to.

MapleSim knows what it’s doing with the release of MapleSim Explorer. It fits into the simulation democratization trends that are becoming ubiquitous throughout the CAE industry. Simplifying simulation models by creating simulation apps, which appears to be the case with MapleSim Explorer, is a great way to ensure your team gets the answers it needs with a customized utility that fits its purpose.
