Analog Devices High-Speed A/D Converter

Analog Devices has announced a 14-bit, 2.6 GSPS dual A/D converter which enables IF/RF sampling. Full-speed spur free dynamic range (SFDR) of the AD9689 is 64 dB full scale for a 3-GHz analog input. Other features of this converter include user-programmable FIR filters which allow users to perform quadratic error correction and equalization for optimized performance, and an analog input bandwidth of 9 GHz in the BGA-packaged version to allow for RF sampling up to and beyond the 4th Nyquist zone.

The AD9689 A/D converter’s JESD204B interface supports 16 GBPS/lane performance, which exceeds the standard 12.5 GBPS/lane requirement. Thus, the system FPGA can use fewer lanes, while freeing resources for other functions.

Microchip Analog Simulator with SPICE and SIMPLIS Environments

Microchip Technology has released the MPLAB Mindi Analog Simulation software, which was updated to include more models and features. The MPLAB Mindi Analog Simulator is a circuit simulation tool that supports more than 300 Microchip analog products, with SIMetrix’s enhanced SPICE (Simulation Program with Integrated Circuit Emphasis) and SIMPLIS Technologies’ SIMPLIS (SIMulation of Piecewise Linear Systems) simulation environments.

The updated software package includes support for additional Digitally Enhanced Power Analog controllers, linear regulators, MOSFET drivers and LED drivers not present in previous software releases. In addition, it is based on the SIMetrix/SIMPLIS 8.1 software package, with added support for file-defined piecewise linear sources, Laplace transform transfer functions, arbitrary filters, Fourier analysis plots, transmission line modeling and improved convergence in the SIMetrix environment. The update also added convergence reporting to help with debug issues in the SIMetrix environment.

Microsemi Mi-V Ecosystem

Microsemi has announced the Mi-V ecosystem to increase adoption of its RISC-V soft CPU product family. The announcement comes as the company also introduces Mi-V RV32IMA and additional field programmable gate array (FPGA)-based soft CPU solutions suited for designs utilizing RISC-V open instruction set architectures (ISAs).

RISC-V, an ISA which is a standard open architecture under the governance of the RISC-V Foundation, offers numerous benefits, including portability as well as allowing the open source community to test and improve cores at a faster pace than closed ISAs. As the RISC-V intellectual property core is not encrypted, it can be used to ensure trust and certifications not possible with closed architectures.

Pasternack Cross Guide Couplers for C to K Bands

Pasternack has introduced a line of cross guide waveguide couplers with 4 port, 3 port and 2 port with coax interface that work across C to K bands. Typical applications include instrumentation, test benches, product development and characterization.

This line of cross guide couplers consists of 160 parts in three sub-categories: cross guide couplers (4 waveguide ports), cross guide couplers with terminations (3 waveguide ports) and cross guide couplers with terminations and waveguide to coax adapters (2 waveguide ports with either a SMA, type-N or 2.92 mm coaxial connection).

These couplers operate over eight waveguide bands in the 5.85 GHz to 33 GHz frequency range. They are made with bronze waveguide bodies and are offered with EIA (CPR)-style flanges or UG-style flanges per military standard. These cross guide couplers are available with coupling factors from 20 to 50 dB.

Samsung Secure IoT Modules

Samsung has announced ARTIK secure “s” systems-on-modules and services for the ARTIK IoT Platform to strengthen edge security. The addition of ARTIK secure IoT modules enables device-level protection for safe data exchange, interoperability and secure access to ARTIK IoT services including device onboarding, orchestration, management and over-the-air updates.

The IoT modules combine hardware-backed security with pre-integrated memory, processing, and connectivity for a range of IoT applications, from simple edge nodes like sensors and controllers, to home appliances, healthcare monitors and gateways for smart factories. This helps protect data and prevent devices from being taken over, disabled, or used maliciously.
