3D digitization technology company SHINING 3D unveiled two new 3D scanning accessories at CES this week. The first, the EinScan Discovery Pack, works with SHINING 3D’s EinScan series of desktop 3D scanners to improve colors and accuracy, while the second, the EinScan HD Prime Pack, enhances the speed and accuracy of the EinScan-Pro+ handheld 3D scanner.

EinScan Discovery Pack

The EinScan series of desktop 3D scanners comes in two variants, the EinScan-SE and EinScan-SP. The SE (the S is a mystery, but the E stands for Elite) is geared toward nontechnical users and educators, while the SP (the P stands for Platinum) is directed a tmore technical, professional users.

The EinScan Discovery Pack, which is compatible with both devices, allows scanners to capture higher resolution 3D data and richer color accuracy. The accessory features a 24-bit true-color display and 12.0-megapixel color texture. SHINING 3D claims that it’s ideal for applications such as virtual reality, e-commerce virtual displays and online museums.

The HD Prime Pack is compatible with the EinScan-Pro+ 3D scanner, and SHINING 3D claims that it can accelerate scanning speed by 30 percent when the device is used in Handheld HD Scan Mode. The Prime Pack also captures more detail and enables marker-free alignment. The company is targeting the Pro+ and HD Prime Pack to applications that include reverse designing, archiving, restoration and cultural heritage preservation.

The EinScan-Pro+ was launched at last year’s CES, its predecessor the EinScan-Pro was launched at CES two years ago, and the EinScan-S desktop scanner made its debut at CES three years ago. In keeping with its CES tradition, SHINING 3D’s new accessories are meant to improve its 3D scanners once more. Though CES attendees had a chance to demo the new products, the accessories won’t be available until the second quarter of this year.
