Software company Tech Soft 3D has announced the latest version of its CAD data translator, HOOPS Exchange. HOOPS Exchange 2018 adds additional support for certain CAD feature information, as well as new support for IGES, STEP and Parasolid integration on iOS.

HOOPS Exchange is a solution for reading 3D CAD data formats into your application, and writing them back out, without end users having to download the associated proprietary software. One of HOOPS’ best qualities is a focus on mobile development, allowing developers to read and write CAD data natively within their iOS applications. One example of such an app is Shapr3D, a mobile CAD application built specifically for the iPad Pro.

“The world has gone mobile, and our partners continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible for engineering software development on mobile technology—our mission is to help them create the best, most sophisticated engineering applications in the quickest, easiest way possible,” said Tech Soft 3D’s Eric Vinchon.

HOOPS Exchange 2018 supports many popular CAD data formats, including AutoCAD DWG, AutoCAD DXF, CATIA V4 through V6, Creo, Inventor, NX, Solid Edge, SOLIDWORKS and more. The 2018 software development kit (SDK) has expanded feature history tree support in CATIA V5, Creo and NX as well as improvements to Parasolid integration, including convergent modeling support, Parasolid multiprocess export, and sewing and healing performance.

“We have also improved support for desktop and web applications, and we continue to provide support for all current CAD file formats, enabling our partners to focus on creating the applications their customers need,” Vinchon said.
