Helix Semiconductors announced beginning mass production of itsMxC200 15W DC-DC power IC, which targets 12-48V inputs and outputs selectable voltages as low as 3V.Helix claims the MxC200 offers the highest energy efficiency per density, with over 97 percent efficiency at 2.6W and over 90 percent efficiency at 15W.

The MxC200provides the flexibility to target a range of applications, including Internet of Things (IoT) and Industrial IoT (IIoT) gateways, wireless access points, security cameras, VoIP phones, electric and hybrid automobiles, industrial controllers, intermediate bus converters, blade servers, and more.

“With the MxC200 and other MuxCapacitor-based products, Helix Semiconductors is answering the demand for more energy-efficient power ICs in the burgeoning AC-DC and DC-DC markets,” said Helix Semiconductors CEO Harold A. Blomquist. “The MxC200 features a unique three-stage process, each of which divides its input in half. Power can be pulled from any of its three outputs simultaneously up to 15W. The company’s MuxCapacitor technology enables the MxC200 to achieve unprecedented high efficiency and to stay nearly flat from full load down to 5 percent load.”

The MxC200 is available in two packages, either a 32-pin 5mm x 5mm QFN or wire-bond die, and is priced at approximately $3 in 10k quantities.
