Tech Soft 3D has released HOOPS Publish 2018, the latest version of their 3D data publishing toolkit. HOOPS Publish 2018 can be used to convert CAD data into native 3D PDF, HTML, STEP AP242, JT, and 3MF files, allowing engineers to publish their models for downstream consumption or 3D printing applications.

With HOOPS Publish, CAD geometry can be combined with product manufacturing information (PMI), annotations, and other metadata.3D PDFs can be created with bill of materials (BOMs), file attachments, view lists, tables, and interactivity such as buttons and layersfor easy-to-digest 3D information. HOOPS Publish 2018 adds full support for Linux, STEP AP 242 export improvements, and the ability to view 3D content in a web browser.

“One of the most critical uses of engineering data outside of engineering is for technical documentation,” said Tech Soft 3D’s Eric Vinchon. “Consumers of that content benefit from the access of up-to-date, accurate model information. The problem today is that the creation of this content is often manual and as a result both error prone and time consuming. HOOPS Publish solves that problem by giving software developers an SDK which allows them to write once and publish everywhere – to programmatically create rich, interactive documents like smart reports, work instructions, parts catalogs, design change notifications and more.”
