An Easier Way for FKM Analytical Strength Assessment

The Altair Partner Alliance added a new ally in the form of S-Life FKM, a static and fatigue strength software developed by German software provider PART Engineering. S-Life FKM is designed to assess Finite Element Analysis (FEA) results according to the FKM (Forschungskuratorium Maschinenbau) analytical strength assessment of mechanical components guideline.

S-Life FKM processes the computed stresses of an FEA analysis according to the FKM guideline, then outputs the static and cyclic utilization ratios on a contour plot. According to PART Engineering, the software is well-suited for companies that develop aluminum, cast iron and steel components with stringent mechanical strength requirements.

“Our strength assessment software, S-Life FKM provides the user a significant increase in accuracy and reliability when evaluating FEA results,” said PART Engineering’s Wolfgang Korte. “With a unique approach to identify critical stress hot spots, S-Life FKM is much faster and more precise than manual assessment of stresses. Users frequently provide feedback that the cost of the software pays off very quickly after carrying out a few assessments.”

“Adding S-Life to the partner products provides another first class fatigue solution to our clients,” said Altair’s Uwe Schramm. “FKM is a widely used standard in the design and engineering of machinery.”

Interested users can participate in a webinar for S-Life FKM that will be held on May 17 at 10:00 am EST. To learn more about the Altair Partner Alliance, read Altair Adds Automotive-Focused MBSE to Its Partner Alliance.
