Maxim has released the MAX17260 and MAX17261 ModelGauge m5 EZ fuel gauges. Suited for a range of Li-ion battery-powered applications, these battery characterization-free devices provide increased levels of accuracy while also offering reduced size and ease of design.

The fuel gauges, which are housed in a small 1.5mm x 1.5mm package, feature a low quiescent current of 5.1µA to minimize draining the battery during long periods of standby time. The products allow designs to be quickly completed without battery characterization or calibration.

Information concerning pricing and availability can be found on Maxim’s website.

Microchip has launched the SAM L10 and SAM L11 MCU families, designed with security in mind. The MCU lines are based on the ARMCortex-M23 core, with the SAM L11 featuring ARMTrustZone for ARMv8-M, a programmable environment that offers hardware isolation between certified libraries, IP and application code.

Microchip provides security by including chip-level tamper resistance, secure boot and secure key storage that, when combined with TrustZone technology, are designed to protect user applications from both remote and physical attacks. Both MCU families feature low power consumption and have capacitive touch capability with water tolerance and noise immunity.
