Analog Devices Energy Metering IC

Analog Devices has introduced an energy metering IC with autocalibration for single-phase energy measurement applications. The ADE9153A uses mSure technology to automatically calibrate the measurement system, reducing calibration time, labor and equipment costs.

Traditional energy measurement ICs require calibration using expensive, external reference grade voltage and current sources. In contrast, the ADE9153A’s mSure technology calibrates the system based on direct measurements of the metering system’s energy measurement signal path. Systems engineered to use the ADE9153A can autocalibrate during production, bypassing the need to build, maintain and deploy precision calibration racks on the production floor.

Maxim PMICs

Maxim has released a series of power-management ICs (PMICs)for automotive advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) functions that provide performance increases, small size formats, improved efficiency and electrical protection.

ADAS functions, many of which are now mandatory or will be soon, increase vehicle safety and enhance the driving experience. ADAS features include smart braking for collision avoidance, GPS/navigation, adaptive cruise control, lane centering, lane departure warning (LDW) and back-up/surround video. Although these functions receive considerable design attention, managing DC power in electrically harsh vehicle environments is a less-publicized yet important challenge they address.

Microchip Single Power Monitoring IC

Microchip has launched two- and three- channel power monitoring devices, the PAC1932/33, which measure from 0V to 32V on a single chip, offering designers systems that are easy to adopt and improve power measurement accuracy. The two-channel device also features native 16-bit resolution.

With its 16-bit power measurement, the PAC1932 can measure without host intervention for 17 minutes, relieving users from adjusting voltage or current range to measure power and energy. The devices include two 16-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) that can measure voltage and current simultaneously, allowing developers to extract a true power measurement.

Microsemi Synchronous Ethernet IC

Microsemi has announced its network synchronization integrated circuit (IC) family for Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) and IEEE 1588 timing and line card applications. Targeted for upcoming 5G wireless equipment and network infrastructure, the product line provides phase measurement and adjustment capabilities that simplify next-generation transport and wireless equipment design.

These capabilities also enable equipment to achieve the phase alignment requirements that are down to 130 nanoseconds across the entire network. The devices’ timing capabilities to monitor, measure, tune and calibrate to the picosecond allow equipment manufacturers address the tenfold increase in phase alignment accuracy required by 5G networks.

RS Components DC-DC Converters

RS Components has unveiled the XP Power QSB Series DC-DC converters. Designed for applications that include signal processing, telecoms, networking and industrial systems, the QSB series provides a stabilised output at a range of standard voltages between 3.3V and 48V, at power levels of 75W to 600W.

All QSB series power converters feature 1500VDC isolation, with isolation resistance of 107 Ω or 109 Ω and isolation capacitance ranging from 100pF to 4000pF. The converters provide remote on/off functions, and with the exception of the QSB15048W models include remote sense, compensating up to 10 percent of nominal output voltage.
