Epson Robots has announced its Flexion N6 6-Axis robot. Featuring a folding-arm design and a footprint-to-reach ratio, the 6-Axis robot is suited for tight or confined spaces in factory automation. With an ability to fold under itself, the robot helps reduce intermediate points and shorten cycle times.

The Flexion N6 has a longer arm (1,000mm) and can handle higher payloads (6kg) than Epson’s previously released Flexion N2 6-Axis robot. The N6 will also have 850mm reach and clean versions due to release in late 2018.

GAM has released its GPL zero-backlash planetary gearboxes. The gearboxes provide precision and rigidity for horizontal and vertical robotic and motion control applications. The gearboxes’ backlash will not increase over the lifetime of the gearbox, maintaining precision and eliminating periodic adjustment. The GPL series is available in seven sizes with ratios from 36:1 to 200:1.

Output options for the GPL series include a solid flanged output (GPL-F) and a hollow shaft flanged output (GPL-H).

GF Machining Solutions has revealed its Mikron MILL P 500 U milling system, allowing for continuous machining of complex forms and materials while shortening process time. Its thermal stability ensures reliable precision over long machining periods. Furthermore, the system integrates automation and ensures the process reliability essential to precision parts manufacturing segments (such as aerospace and machinery parts) as well as automotive mold making.

The rotary tilting table is available in several variations: T-slot tables accommodating a payload of 200kg, 400kg or 600kg, as well as pallet tables accommodating a payload of 200kg, 400kg or 600kg. Incremental, direct angle measuring systems are mounted on the swiveling and circular axes to guarantee high positioning and repeat accuracy.

Optomec has introduced its LENS 860 Hybrid Controlled Atmosphere (CA) System. The addition to the LENS Machine Tool Series has a larger build volume and supports increased laser power, providing more capabilities for metal hybrid manufacturing.

The LENS 860 Hybrid CA system has an 860 x 600 x 610mm work envelope and is equipped with a hermetically sealed build chamber that maintains oxygen and moisture levels below 10 ppm for processing reactive metals, such as Titanium. The system can be configured with closed loop controls and a 3kW fiber laser.

Vention and Thomson Industries have joined forces to create linear motion components compatible with the Vention hardware and software platform. The Vention platform allows for the design, order and commissioning of factory equipment in the span of a few days. Custom linear axes can also be added to any design created in Vention’s MachineBuilder.

Thomson’s shafts and linear bearings will enable a new range of high-duty cycle applications such as 7th axes, palletizers, cartesian robots and more. The integration of Thomson components in Vention’s digital workflow allows for greater speed and simplicity when creating linear motion systems.
