Eaton Screw-in Cartridge Valve

Eaton announced its ESVL9 screw-in cartridge valve (SiCV), a five-way, three-position proportional solenoid valve. Featuring an integrated load-sense check control, the device provides a 21 percent manifold size reduction.

The size 10 ESVL9 valve integrates the external check control within the main cartridge. In addition, the valve is designed to optimize flow forces and metering of flow to the spool, providing stable, even and manageable proportional control. The ESVL9 valve also uses two springs for functionality.

Emerson HYSYS Link Software

Emerson and AspenTech introduced Mimic HYSYS Link Software, which makes it more practical and efficient for organizations to create digital twins for use across an entire plant’s lifecycle. Mimic HYSYS Link software includes automated configuration tools that enable bulk data transfer between Emerson and AspenTech systems.

Built-in readiness for virtualization and cloud technologies in Mimic software help users maintain up-to-date engineering and training environments and avoid creating duplicate physical hardware systems. Organizations can continuously update their digital twins for greater decision integrity and use real-time dynamic models to test performance improvements safely in a cloud-based simulation before deploying at their actual plant.

Opto 22 Serial I/O Module

Opto 22 released its groov serial I/O module, GRV-CSERI-4. This module plugs into a groov EPIC chassis alongside Opto 22’s groov Edge Programmable Industrial Controller (EPIC) and analog I/O modules, to provide the mix of analog, discrete and serial signals at any location.

The module provides four independent and isolated serial ports for this purpose, communicating with RS-232 or RS-485 serial devices. Up to four modules can be installed in one groov EPIC chassis, providing 16 serial ports to support those communication requirements.

Pepperl+FuchsIndustrial Box Thin Client

Pepperl+Fuchs launched an industrial box thin client, the BTC12, featuring the RM Shell 5.0, a thin client firmware for industrial-grade security and stability. An Apollo Lake processor helps support operator workstation setups with up to two monitors.

The BTC12 has two DisplayPort connections for dual video output, supporting 4K resolution at 60Hz. It also supports D++ (and allows connectivity to HDMI monitors via a passive DP-to-HDMI cable) and Multi-Stream Transport protocol (daisy chaining multiple monitors to one display port).

UR Cobot-assisted Palletizers and Box-erectors

Universal Robots (UR) unveiled a system for random robotic case erecting, the XPAK ROBOX. The box erector developed by XPAK allows packagers to randomly erect any box in their suite on demand, without changeover.

The XPAK ROBOX is equipped with a UR10e cobot arm that picks a flat box from one of two magazines, squares the case, folds and seals the bottom flaps with 2-inch tape. Additional magazine and custom box conveyance options allow the XPAK ROBOX to integrate into most packaging environments.
