MEDUSA4 and MPDS4 Updates Provide Quicker Process Plant and Factory Designs

Engineering software developer CAD Schroer has announced updates to two of its CAD offerings: MEDUSA4, a 2D/3D CAD and design automation program, and MPDS4, software for industrial plant design and factory layout. According to CAD Schroer, the updates aim to provide new functionality for rapid, high quality design.

Updates to MEDUSA4 include:

  • Improved 2D graphics performance for better handling of large drawings
  • A new dialog for drawing templates that allows users to add company- or project-specific sheet templates
  • Upgraded 3D import/export and faster 3D data processing
  • Automatic numbering in piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
  • New help and tutorial dialogs for user manuals, release notes and video tutorials

Updates to MPDS4 include:

  • The ability to import Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) planning data
  • The ability to export FBX files for virtual reality, and a new independent VR viewer, M4 VIRTUAL REVIEW
  • The ability to record factory walk-throughs and virtual tours, and save them in a variety of formats and resolutions
  • Improved import and simplification of 3D models
  • An expanded ROHR2 interface for improved export of pipeline data
  • Creation of pipe isometrics now generates detailed bending tables that can be exported for NC bending machines
  • Automatic derivation of 2D factory layout symbols from 3D models
  • Optimized placement of conveyor components in 2D
  • The ability to copy and paste complete conveyor groups
  • New architecture tools to create walls, doors, columns, roller shutters and more
