SHINING 3D Launches New Series of Multifunctional 3D Scanners

Scanning specialists, SHINING 3D, recently launched their latest generation of multifunctional 3D scanners: the EinScan Pro 2X and 2X Plus.

With the increasing need for more accurate, as-built 3D drawings, the demand for short-range 3D scanners continues to grow. According to this ProjectBoard, the rise of modular and offsite construction has become a key trend due to its cost-effectiveness. SHINING 3D aims to make the scanning process more efficient without sacrificing accuracy.

"Based on the feedback received from thousands of users and the valuable input of SHINING 3D's own R&D team, the EinScan Pro 2X & 2X Plus deliver substantial improvements on scan speed, accuracy, and function," said Oscar Meza, VP of Global Sales at SHINING 3D. "Making a dramatic breakthrough in scanning speed and data quality, the EinScan Pro 2X series [aims] to improve the efficiency in generating high-quality 3D models."

Both scanners support versatile scan modes and align modes: Handheld Rapid Scan, Handheld HD Scan, and Fixed Scan, with or without a turntable. Multiple alignment modes are also supported, such as feature alignment, markers alignment, turntable coded targets alignment, and manual alignment.

The scanners are fully portable and include plug-and-play installation to ensure unlimited scanning experiences. They can process up to 1,500,000 points per second (30 fps) under Handheld Rapid Scan mode with high-speed data transmission. Minimum point distance is up to 0.2mm under both Handheld Rapid Scan and Handheld HD Scan modes, generating high-resolution 3D data. The volumetric accuracy under handheld scanning modes is up to 0.05mm+0.3mm/m. Fixed Scan Mode has a single scan accuracy of up to 0.04 mm.

Modular design allows for a wide range of applications. Color Pack, Industrial Pack, and HD Prime Pack can be optional add-ons to the EinScan Pro 2X series, which can enhance the system for various scanning experiences and applications.

The ExScan Pro software offers a brand-new UI and workflow, providing users a 3D scan process as simple as taking a video. A new mode allows users a faster scanning experience during operation and has the option to set the resolution during data processing. Outputs standard file formats include STL, OBJ, PLY, ASC and P3 (global markers file).

Besides the new scanner series, SHINING 3D has also released new software in collaboration with Siemens PLM Software. The Solid Edge SHINING 3D Edition, is a design tool that brings together CAD, reverse engineering, generative design and simulation under one platform. Both SHINING 3D and Siemens are currently working together to develop another software package.

"The integration of Solid Edge SHINING 3D Edition, EinScan 3D scanners, and 3D printer enables users a complete solution covering 3D digitize – design & simulate –additive manufacturing," said Oscar Meza, "it will significantly improve the efficiency and quality for designers, engineers and researchers."

The company is currently showcasing its new products at Formnext 2018 in Frankfurt, Germany.
