Cypress Microcontrollers

Cypress Semiconductor has introduced its PSoC 6 microcontroller (MCU) family. The PSoC 6 MCU is purpose-built to address the growing needs for computing, connectivity and storage in IoT edge devices. The MCUs include expanded embedded memory with 2MB Flash and 1MB SRAM to support compute-intensive algorithms, connectivity stacks and data logging.

Additionally, Cypress announced two development kits for the PSoC 6 family, allowing developers to leverage its MCU with hardware-based security to prolong battery life, deliver efficient processing and sensing, and protect user data.

FARO Automatic Digital Hashing of Scan Data

FARO has released Digital Signature, the automatic digital hashing of scan data on the company’s line of Focus Laser Scanners. Digital Signature provides encrypted security to all raw scans by hashing data at the time of capture. With this automatic digital hashing feature, users can show that their raw scan data has not been altered from the time the scans were captured.

Whenever a Focus Laser Scanner captures a scan, the data is now digitally “signed.”  An industry-standard algorithm is used to map each raw scan to a single number, called a hash value. The hash value can be checked at any time to make sure that the raw scan file has not been tampered with.

Maxim Analog ICs for Building Automation

Maxim has launched three building-block analog ICs: the MAX41464 sub-1GHz wireless transmitter, the MAX38888 backup power regulator, and the MAX16141 36-volt ORing FET controller for building automation, industrial, automotive and portable applications.

With these ICs, system designers will be able to improve system efficiency and performance, extend battery life, add new features, and reduce form factor and bill-of-material (BOM) costs.

Mouser Electronics has unveiled the AMT series of capacitive modular absolute encoder kits from CUI. Based on capacitive sensing technology, the single-turn and multi-turn AMT encoders are resistant to dust, dirt and oil, making themsuitable for industrial applications, such as robotics, building automation and renewable energy devices.

The AMT series kits include nine sleeve options ranging from 2mm to 8mm, two simple mounting tools, and either one standard baseplate (AMT20) or one standard baseplate and one wide baseplate (AMT21 and AMT23) with multiple pre-drilled mounting hole patterns designed to mate with a range of motors.

RS Components Graphic Display Controllers

RS Components has announced two graphic display controller ICs from Bridgetek that target the development of next-generation graphics displays for human machine interface (HMI) uses.

The BT815/816 controllers are the third generation of embedded video engine (EVE) devices. Providing support for display, audio and touch capabilities, they allow engineers to quickly and efficiently design high-resolution displays and HMI devices with a lower overall cost.
