Maxim PMICs

Maxim has released the MAX17270, MAX77278, MAX77640/MAX77641 and MAX77680/MAX77681low-power powermanagement integrated circuits (PMICs), which allow designers of small, battery-powered electronics to enhance the user experience by extending battery life and further reducing device size.

The PMICs can help reduce the powermanagement footprint by up to 50 percent for space-constrained products such as wearables and Internet of Things (IoT) devices. The circuits increase overall system efficiency by 9 percent while also reducing heat dissipation, an important consideration for wearable products that make skin contact.

Microchip Touchscreen Controllers

Microchip has launched a family of single-chip maXTouch touchscreen controllers for automotive applications. As automakers use screens to replace mechanical switches on vehicle dash areas for sleeker interior designs, safe and reliable operation has become even more important.

The MXT2912TD and MXT2113TD devices incorporate self- and sensor-diagnostic functions, which monitor the integrity of the touch system. These diagnostic features support the Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL) classification index as defined by the ISO 26262 Functional Safety Specification for Passenger Vehicles.

Microsemi has extended its Mi-V ecosystem with an architecture for a class of SoC FPGAs that combines the low power, midrange PolarFire FPGA family with a microprocessor subsystem based on the open RISC-V instruction set architecture (ISA).

PolarFire SoC includes debug capabilities such as instruction trace, 50 breakpoints, passive runtime configurable Advanced eXtensible Interface (AXI) bus monitors and FPGA fabric monitors, and a built-in two-channel logic analyzer. It also includes features such as single error correction and double error detection (SEC-DED) on all memories, physical memory protection, a differential power analysis (DPA) safe crypto core, defense-grade secure boot and 128Kb flash boot memory.

RS Components has introduced a range of capacitors manufactured by Vishay/BC Components. Designed for energy storage in industrial, renewable energy and automotive environments, the MAL2225 polarized electrostatic double-layer capacitors (EDLCs) combine high capacity and energy density with rapid charge and discharge rates.

The capacitors offer a lifetime of 2,000 hours at +85°C and are available to meet a stringent moisture resistance qualification: the AEC-Q200 biased 85/85 1,000-hour accelerated lifetime test.

Texas Instruments (TI) has unveiled a series of LED drivers with integrated, independent color mixing, brightness control and a power-saving mode. The devices feature a 29kHz dimming frequency, which is above the human-audible range, to help designers of applications that use a human-machine interface, such as portable electronics, building automation and appliances, eliminate the noise typically heard when lights are dimmed.
