Sasken Prepares for the Future with New Automotive Center of Excellence

5G, the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence.… What once were buzzwords among various industries have now solidified themselves as hard areas of focus, including in the automotive industry. A recent announcement by Sasken, a technology and service provider based in Bangalore, India, brings this reality closer to home.

The company rang in the new year with the opening of its Automotive Center of Excellence in Detroit. The facility will be a development hub for innovative solutions for the future of connected vehicles.

“Software is becoming a key differentiator in automotive today,” said Hari Haran, Sasken president-Global Sales, Marketing and Business Lines. “Sasken brings a decade-long experience in delivering software solutions to its automotive customers. With our Automotive CoE, we aim to bring our key solutions closer to our customers in the region. Our objective here is to anchor key programs while continuing to provide offshore delivery excellence.”

The center will primarily work to develop new solutions in areas such as an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), integrated cockpit system (ICS), in-car infotainment and telematics. Sasken hopes to grow the facility into a hub with more than 100 engineers, which is good news for the Detroit area.

“We are excited that Sasken has selected Southfield for its new Detroit Development Center,” said Kenson Siver, City of Southfield mayor. “Sasken joins a distinguished lineup of technology companies on Southfield’s Telegraph Road high-tech corridor.”

Sasken provides engineering and digital transformation solutions to leading automotive Tier 1 companies and OEMs. The new facility is part of Sasken’s nearshore strategy to enhance the growing needs of the automotive industry.

“A huge factor that went into our decision to set up this center in Detroit is the availability of great talent,” said Rajiv Mody, Sasken chairman, managing director and CEO. “Sasken’s new facility will provide an opportunity for local engineers to work on cutting-edge technologies in the automotive domain.”
