AI-Enabled Visual Inspection Solution Detects Defects and Drives Improvement

As the digital age paves the way for Industry 4.0, many companies are already deep into innovating ways for manufacturers to enter the future. Spyglass Connected Solutions, an artificial intelligence (AI) and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) software company, recently announced a tool for enhancing quality and driving improvements with its Spyglass Visual Inspection.

According to the company, Spyglass Visual Inspection, powered by Microsoft Azure, is a QA optimization solution designed to assist manufacturers of any size in improving product quality through AI, IIoT and computer image recognition, resulting in cost reductions due to manufacturing flaws.

This software may offer a solution to some of the main challenges manufacturers face, including the high cost of reprocessing products—including time and reputation—existing systems that are unable to detect small flaws, and the inability to aggregate data from different facilities.

Spyglass Visual Inspection aims to allow for quicker, more accurate detection of defects and is designed to be easily implemented and used with existing image data and hardware, ensuring even legacy equipment can be customized for the future. The software also features predictive analytics for performing root cause analysis necessary to improve process.

One customer, which was seeing losses of $30 per unit across 40 production lines, was reportedly able to save over $1 million quarterly using the software.
