Igus Dryve Motor System a Cost-Effective Linear Axis Motor Control System

Igus, a German-based manufacturer of motion plastics, has developed what it calls a cost-effective and easy to use solution for the linear axes motor control systems. The igus motor control system D3 controls linear and rotary systems without the need for a PC. To improve the user’s experience, igus has also enhanced its D1 dryve control system for DC and EC/BLDC motors. Users can operate the motor control system for complex movement via a browser and modify it live.

To ensure that users can control and operate the axes without hassle, igus developed the D3 dryve to offer users a control system for simple movement. While the D1 allows users to automate a variety of tasks through an intuitive web-based interface, the new D3 control suits standard DC motors. D3 connects to a 24-volt power supply and enables users to set parameters via the DiP switch, as well as adjust the speed with an onboard potentiometer. Users can perform current limiting on the controller.

The German company designed the D3 dryve for all size businesses, even small and medium firms that do not possess programming skills to use motorized axes. Companies can use the D3 dryve to set up basic motion profile for height adjustments, sliding doors and other positioning tasks. The D1 dryve control system allows users to control linear robots. Users who do not want to use a fixed PC to operate the motor control system can use a smartphone or a tablet. Igus’ North American operations manufacturers drylin E linear axes with DC, Stepper and EC motors. Rene Erdmann, igus’ head of drylin E drive technology division, said, “The start-up of a motor-driven axis together with the new D1 dryve control system is possible in a few minutes. Afterwards, the values can be changed, or intermediate steps can be added easily via the web browser.” D1 dryve’s advantage is the networking ability of the control system. Igus designed it to save space and to mount it in switch cabinets on a top hat rail for connection via a WLAN router to control the system via a wireless device. The integrated web server does not require additional software on the operating devices. To find out more about igus, read Igus Offers Free Tool for Automated Dresspack Configuration.
