LPT – Safety Solutions – Balluff Laser Distance Sensor, SCHURTER Chip Fuse and More

In this week’s issue of Latest Production Technology:

Balluff Laser Distance Sensor with I/O Link

Balluff has released its BOD002L laser distance sensor with an I/O link. The sensor allows manufactures to, for example, precisely and safely determine the location of a component, and also provides stack height detection.

The laser’s clearly delineated laser beam lets users detect small objects with precision. They can also individually set the measuring range of the sensor thanks to the analog output curve, which can be adjusted for various applications.

Blackline Safety Gas Detection for Confined Workspaces

Blackline Safety has introduced its G7 gas detection instrument, which is customizable with plug-and-play cartridges that accommodate for multiple gas detection applications in confined workspaces or factories.

Confined workspaces often lack resources you would normally find in areas designed for continuous occupancy, such as proper ventilation systems, lighting or areas that would allow for easy entry (such as stairwells or doorways), creating potential hazards. The G7 detection helps mitigate these risks with an array of features and measurement settings.

ifm Speed Monitoring

ifm has launched its M12 speed sensor with an integrated I/O link. This safety sensor’s evaluation electronics are included in the sensor housing. This allows for low-cost and easy monitoring of rotating as well as linear movements regarding overspeed and underspeed. The limit of the speed at which the output switches is set via IO-Link.

In addition, due to the optional background compensation, it is possible to adjust the sensing range through “teaching” in order to suppress interfering elements in the background.

Reyco Granning Suspension for Electric Vehicles

Reyco Granning has unveiled its WorkMaster drive axle air suspension system for commercial and industrial electric vehicles. Low profile frame brackets leave room for body mounts or 5th wheel angles. The curved spring beam eliminates the traditional lower air spring mount to increase safety in busy manufacturing areas, as well as increase ground clearance, reduce weight and accommodate a range of frame widths.

SCHURTER Chip Fuse

SCHURTER has developed its UAI 1206 “trace in air” chip fuse. The chip fuse offers pulse withstand and temperature resistant capabilities, together with time-lag characteristics. This overcurrent protection device is suited for applications where durability and reliability are required in a small device footprint.
