Microchip NOR Flash Memory Devices with Embedded MAC Addresses

Microchip introduced its SST26VF Serial Quad I/O (SQI) 3V Flash family with integrated MAC address options. Pre-programmed with EUI-48 and EUI-64 addresses, the devices do not have a minimum order requirement, providing a cost-effective, plug-and-play storage system for connected applications that use Ethernet, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, IEEE 802.15.4 and FireWire.

Microsemi FPGA Video and Image Processing

Microsemi, a division of Microchip, announced its Smart Embedded Vision initiative that provides a means for designing intelligent machine vision systems with the PolarFire FPGAs. Smart Embedded Vision has a suite of FPGA options that include IP, hardware and tools for low-power, small-form factor machine vision designs across the industrial, medical, defense and other sectors.

PolarFire FPGAs offer 30 to 50 percent lower total power over similar Static Random-Access Memory (SRAM)-based mid-range FPGAs. With units ranging from 100K to 500K logic elements (LEs), they provide five to 10 times lower static power.

TI Switching Regulator

Texas Instruments (TI) has developed a switching regulator with a low operating quiescent current (IQ) at 60nA. The TPS62840 synchronous step-down converter provides high light-load efficiency of 80 percent at 1-µA load, which lets designers extend the battery life of their systems or use fewer and smaller batteries to shrink the overall power supply size and reduce cost. Additionally, the DC/DC converter’s input voltage range of 1.8 V to 6.5 V supports various battery chemistries and configurations.

TT Reflective Optical Sensor

TT Electronics released its OPB9000 SMD reflective optical sensors, which can detect objects as far away as 50mm using standard 90 percent reflective material and can detect objects as small as 2.5mm, depending on the object distance.

Aimed at industrial and medical applications, the sensor features a 25k+ ambient light immunity that allows operation from dark rooms to bright sunlight. It can detect many types of media with as little as a 30 percent change in reflectivity, and it has a 6μs response time.

Vision High-speed Camera

Vision Research unveiled its Phantom S640 camera. The S640 leverages the Phantom CMOS sensor used in the VEO640 camera and provides up to 6 Gpx/sec (75Gbps) of streaming data and images for machine vision applications.

To support high-quality imaging, it also has 12bits, a noise level of 20.5e- and dynamic range of 55.9dB. The camera features a general-purpose input/output (GPIO) for fast signaling and synchronization.
